Davidson Racks Up Awards

By Michael Butler

Tallassee High School graduate and current Faulkner University student-athlete Chole Davidson is having a banner year. The junior has received several honors for her performance on and off the softball field.

She was named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC). Barnes and Noble added the same distinction on a national level. Davidson was also named the SSAC Player of the Year.

Davidson, a 2022 THS grad, has a 3.96 grade point average. On the field she hit .486 with a .537 on-base percentage scoring 51 runs and stealing 14 bases.

“Chloe almost won player of the year last year,” said Mark Segrest, who is a volunteer coach at Faulkner and has coached Davidson since youth ball. “She’s very humble. She’s a great person to coach.”

Segrest also spoke highly of another Chloe that plays college softball in Montgomery at AUM, Chloe Baynes. Baynes, another 2022 Tallassee High alum, just broke the career hits mark at AUM.

“I tell my buddies all the time, two of the best slappers are the Chloes. They can play at any level. They could play at Alabama and Auburn. They just happen to play at AUM and Faulkner.”
