Tallassee sophomore catcher Brue Milner has been named first-team all-state by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. It is the second straight year as a first-teamer for Milner.
Last season, Milner became Tallassee’s first Tallassee freshman to receive the honor and the first on the first team off a Tigers’ roster since Dee Williams and Will Peters were picked by the ASWA in 2017.
“It feels good,” Milner said. “All the hard work pays off. It takes a lot but it’s worth it.”
Milner led Tallassee to the quarterfinal round of the playoffs for the second straight year hitting a team-leading .489, the sixth best in program history.
“I quit thinking so much about the long ball and concentrated on base hits,” he added. “It was a lot of BP.”

Milner had 45 hits and still belted five homers with 20 extra-base hits in all. He was tops on the team in all categories including RBIs with 40. His on-base percentage was .607.
Defensively, he threw out 12 runners attempting to steal and picked off three more.
