New THS Principal Named

By Michael Butler

Tallassee High School has completed its new administrator assignments with the introduction of Dr. Crystal Adams as principal. Adams was approved by the board of education at the April 15 meeting.

Joining Adams in the front office will be Josh Harrison, who was named assistant principal last month.

“You keep the main thing the main thing, which is students and learning,” said Tallassee City Schools Superintendent Dr. Brock Nolin. “That’s what I like about this team here. They’re excited about bringing a higher level of learning.”

Harrison and Adams

Adams is currently working in the classroom at THS.

“She’s been with us a couple of years,” said Nolin. “She’s really heavy into curriculum.”

Adams has 20 years in education, including time in administration as the assistant principal at Pike Road Intermediate School. She also started the Lee County Learning Center in Salem. At Tallassee, she has worked in the Math Department.

“Anytime you can have that experience in the classroom, what it’s like to be a teacher,” Adams said, “you can continue to help the building grow from all perspectives. It gives you that overall view of what you need going forward.”

Harrison was at Wetumpka in the Academic Intervention Department. In addition, he served as an assistant coach with the football staff.

“I appreciate my time there,” Harrison said of the Wetumpka position. “That’s where I transitioned out of the classroom into a leadership role. We’ve been going to First Baptist in Tallassee establishing connections with people. My wife and I knew this is where we wanted to be. We want to make all of our schools everything they can be.”

Nolin feels like Adams and Harrison will be a good fit.

“They complement each other well. They’re hungry. They’re a well-rounded package as a team.”
