The Tallassee High School baseball team begins post-season play this week at Munford. The Class 4A best-of-three series will be a doubleheader on Friday starting at 4 p.m. A Saturday decider will be at 2 p.m. if necessary.
The Tigers (18-10) look to follow up a quarterfinal run in last year’s playoffs. Head coach John Goodman hopes this season’s challenging schedule will help.
“Munford has a really good left-handed pitcher,” Goodman said. “Playing the schedule we did, we saw really good left-handed pitching. The main reason we see great arms, everyone throws their best against us.”
Tallassee faced nine playoff teams during the season, several in multiple meetings. Six of those nine teams are currently ranked in either the Alabama Sports Writers Association or Prep Baseball Report polls.

Munford is the Class 4A/Area 8 champion. The Lions have compiled a 16-7 record and swept Tallassee in the first round of the playoffs back in 2018.
The Tigers have won 12 of their last 14 games, including an 11-8 win on Monday at Wetumpka.
“I believe the team is playing some of their best ball,” Goodman said. “We really have to turn it up for the first round playing in a hostile environment. They are going to be a really good team.”
THS has 13 seniors on the 2025 squad.
“Hopefully, this is where the senior-based team comes into effect,” Goodman added. “We need as many people as possible to show up and show out. Should be a very good series. Go Tigers!”
All playoff games will be broadcast on WTLS – Score 94.7/Hit 106.9. Airtime will be 30 minutes prior to the first pitch of each game.
