Tallassee Mayor Sarah Hill has decided not to run for an additional term. Hill issued a press release on Tuesday.
“After deep reflection, much prayer, and heartfelt conversations with those closest to me, I have decided not to seek re-election as Mayor of the City of Tallassee in 2025,” Hill noted. “It has been an incredible honor to serve this community — and to do so as the first female mayor in Tallassee’s history. When I stepped into this role, our city was working to rebuild from a difficult chapter in leadership. The city endured a period of instability and unwanted headlines that cast a shadow over it, but with the support of a dedicated council, we focused on restoring trust, rebuilding relationships with our partners, and returning integrity to City Hall. And together, we’ve done just that.”

Hill highlighted some of the accomplishments during her term.
“During my time in office, we secured $15.5 million in funding for gas infrastructure — ensuring the safety and sustainability of one of our most critical systems — and obtained a $10 million commitment from the county toward a new community and recreational facility that will serve families across generations. We also made a $1.1 million investment — through both grant funding and city match — into critical improvements at our water treatment plant, supporting cleaner, more reliable services for all residents. In addition, we completed city-funded lighting upgrades at all three of our baseball and softball complexes, creating safer, more accessible spaces for our youth and families to enjoy.
“These efforts, among others, contributed to the highest amount of grant/ partnership funding in the history of Tallassee — a milestone of which I’m incredibly proud. These are just a few of the many accomplishments we’ve achieved together over the last three years.”

Hill was still undecided earlier this year when prompted about four more years.
“This decision to step away hasn’t come easily. I care deeply about this city and the people who call it home. Though I won’t be seeking re-election, I remain committed to Tallassee’s continued success and will always advocate for its future. I’m excited for what’s ahead and hopeful for the city’s next chapter.
“To our city employees: thank you for your hard work, your professionalism, and your unwavering dedication to keeping our city running every single day. Your efforts often go unseen, but they are appreciated.
“To the current city council: thank you for your partnership, your commitment to doing what’s right, and your willingness to lead through both progress and challenge. It’s been an honor to work beside you.
“Thank you, Tallassee, for the trust, support, and encouragement you’ve given me. It has truly been a privilege to serve as your mayor.”
