The next municipal election will be in August. Joey Wiginton has already declared his bid for mayor. Tallassee Mayor Sarah Hill has yet to make a decision.

Citizens may cast their vote for mayor, city council and school board on Aug. 26.

“I think Tallassee is needing some new vision,” Wigington said. “I love Tallassee. I want to make a difference.”

Hill has spent nine years in public office. She has been elected to the city council twice and was appointed as mayor in July of 2022.

“I know that the job isn’t done,” said Hill. “There is a lot of growth, but I also have a commitment to my family. I’ve been thinking and praying about it. I have some time.”

Official qualifying for candidates will be in May.

“It’s still early,” Hill added. “I’ve been told by a few council members that they are interested.”
