The Tallassee girls wrestling team hosted its first-ever duals tournament on Jan. 4 and took first place.

“I am proud of all of these girls,” Tallassee head coach Jason Taylor said. “All had big wins, but a few really made the difference. Sparrow Sgarlata, Autumn Barker and Abby Carwile had big wins over Auburn. But the bigger upset was Kaylee Fannin’s win over Montevallo. The last time the two faced each other it went Montevallo’s way. But not today, as Kaylee won by pin in the last seconds of the second period.”
