Senior Center open again
By Michael Butler
The Tallassee Senior Center has reopened with regular services on site in East Tallassee. The return to normal comes after 15 months of COVID-related limitations.
"We went from having the seniors coming in everyday, to not having anyone there," director Debbieann Woodard said. "We were doing strictly meals through delivery and curbside pickup. I'm glad that to have everyone back."
The Senior Center opened its doors again on Monday, June 14.
"Each day we serve 22 seniors," Woodard added. "They usually get in around 9 with coffee and tea. We have activities like Bingo. At 11, we eat lunch. Then they wind down. About 12:30, they go."
Seniors (60 and over) are welcome to come, Woodard said.
"If they come, they have to fill out a basic application."

There will still be some COVID protections in place.
"We will still recommend wearing masks and washing hands," Woodard noted. "For the most part, everything will be basically back to normal."
