Sleeping Beauty coming to Tallassee

Staff Report

The McCraney-Cottle Arts Council (MCAC) will host the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) production of  "Sleeping Beauty" in the Tallassee High School Auditorium on Sunday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m.

Auditions will be held on Monday, Jan. 13 at 3:30 p.m. in the auditorium. All students from the surrounding areas, kindergarten through high school, are encouraged to audition for a part in the upcoming performance.

"It's one of the more well attended events," MCAC executive director Jerry Cunningham said, "and the good thing is it's hands on. The kids can participate and learn. We anticipate anywhere from 50-80 to be involved."

“Sleeping Beauty” is a 1959 American animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney based on "The Sleeping Beauty" by Charles Perrault. Disney's 16th animated feature film was released to theaters on Jan. 29, 1959 by Buena Vista Distribution, and has since become a classic Disney movie.

MCT, the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for nearly 50 years now from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,100 communities this year with up to 44 teams of Tour Actor/Directors.
