Taylor announces mayoral bid

James (Trey) Taylor has announced his candidacy for mayor of the city of Tallassee in the coming municipal election. Taylor is married to Holley Taylor, formerly of Eclectic. They have two children; Madeline and Jase. He is the son of the late Melvin, Jr. and Judy Taylor.

Taylor is a lifelong resident of Tallassee where he graduated from Tallassee High School in 1985 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree from Auburn University of Montgomery. He is a member of Rushenville Baptist Church of Eclectic where he serves as a deacon.

Taylor is the owner and manager of Tallassee Bonded Warehouse, Inc. and is now serving as Elmore County Commissioner District 2. He also works as a radio personality on WTLS radio in Tallassee.

Taylor has been employed with Elmore County for the past 14 years serving as commissioner, subdivision inspector, project inspector and license inspector. He feels his experience as commissioner and an employee in local government will be an asset to him if elected mayor.

Taylor said, "In the past four years serving on the Elmore County Commission we brought in over $45 million in road, bridge and facility improvements to this county. All improvements were done with no additional costs to tax payers. Tallassee benefited from some of these improvements through my representation on the county commission. I want to continue to make improvements to this town, but the only way I can do it is if the citizens elect me as mayor. This city has shown great support of me in past elections and I hope they will continue to do so in the next municipal election. Tallassee is a great place to live and all I want to do is make it better."
