Taunton seeks another term

To all citizens of Tallassee, especially Ward 1 residents, thank you for trusting me over the past 3-1/2 years as your city councilman. I, along with the mayor and city council have been working extremely hard for the progressiveness of our great city.

I will tell you this term has flown by, but the road was long. If I'm being honest there have been many trying times and difficult decisions to be made but we, either for or against, made them. Citizens, we are surely ascending out of debt, thanks in part to the mayor and most of the council as it relates to necessary monetary increases that ensures our city's existence.

Citizens, no one wants to pay more in taxes including me, but lets be real - we all have to do our part.  We can't rely on the mill to take care of us, our city, or our problems anymore. I'm proud to be a part of the city council, but before that I'm proud to be a Tallassean.

We have made great strides over the past 3-1/2 years to include but not limited to; infrastruture, sidewalks, the recreation center, a partnership with Dixie Youth concession stand to rebuild, and the library.

We have received $4.5 million in grants and we look forward to the downtown area renovations. The properties the city sold, namely Seven Gables and the Patterson Building, are now a showcase for our great city. I would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Noah Griggs Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Dylan Daniel for investing in Tallassee. Corrie Sid is also investing in Tallassee as she purchased the Guest House and has big plans on the way.

Some of you will read this only to disagree and that's okay, so long as we can agree to disagree yet move Tallassee forward in a productive and progressive way.

It was Frederick Douglass who said," If there is no struggle, there is no progress."

I look forward to serving Tallassee and its citizens in the next four years, so I'm asking for your vote for Ward 1 Councilman on Aug. 25, 2020. Thank you and may God bless our nation and our city throughout these traumatic times.
