Margaret Dean, a senior at Tallassee High School, has been awarded Potential Magazine’s $500 Reader’s Choice Scholarship for her excellence academics and leadership.

At Tallassee High School, Margaret is actively involved in her academics, and she dedicates a great amount of time to serving her community. She is the National Honor Society President, and a high school representative for the Tallassee Chamber of Commerce. In addition, she is a Children’s Church assistant at Bethlehem East Baptist Church, where she also participates in the Drama Ministry Team and the Mission Trip Team.

Every year, Potential awards a Reader's Choice Scholarship to a teen that has been featured as a Teen Spotlight in the May - March issues of Potential. The winner is selected by our readers through online voting and will appear on WSFA on a live Parent to Parent segment with Potential's  publisher.

Potential  Magazine is a multi-media resource for parents of college-bound teenagers. In each issue, high achieving students in the 7th-12th grade are featured and entered to win the $500 "Reach Your Potential" scholarship awarded in May, as well as the Reader’s Choice Scholarship.

Teens are recommended by their school or community leaders for excelling in one or more of the following areas: academics, business, leadership, philanthropy, overcoming adversity, citizenship and community service, athletics, and the arts. Potential Magazine's advisory board chooses teens to feature in each issue and selects the scholarship winner in May.

"We love spotlighting teens in Alabama and gaining great advice from their parents," stated Pam Mashburn, publisher of Potential Magazine. Teens who are selected participate in an interview and photo shoot along with their parents for a spotlight feature in the magazine and website. Nomination forms can be found on www.potentialmagazine.com.
