City Hall closed until January

Staff Report

Tallassee City Hall will be closed to visitors through Jan. 4. Mayor Johnny Hammock posted the news on Facebook.

"There's been a huge spike in coronavirus here in our city," Hammock said. "We're trying to protect our workers and the public. Sorry for the inconvenience, but you can still call City Hall at 334-283-6571.

"You can still pay your utility bills over the phone, use our website or use the drop box. If you need to pay a court fine or speeding ticket, you can call the magistrate's office and do it over the phone."

Other services such as tag or license renewals will need to be taken care of at the probate offices in Wetumpka, Dadeville or Alex City.

Tallapoosa County Probate Judge Talmadge East posted an update on Facebook regarding the closing in Tallassee.

"I have just been informed by mayor Hammock that the City Hall will be closed until Jan. 4 due to COVID-19 outbreaks. As such, we will not be able to open the Tallassee Probate Annex office until that time. Alex City and Dadeville office hours will remain the same. We will be closed Dec. 24 and 25 for Christmas."
