Yankey wins first game

Shane Yankey has coached numerous games in recreational sports. Last Tuesday, he picked up his first as a head coach for a school team.

Yankey is the new head coach of the Southside Middle School boys squad. The Tigers beat Eclectic Middle School at SMS 37-20.

"Let's make this clear, I didn't score a point," Yankey said in downplaying his role in the win. "The guys played hard. The Eclectic kids played hard. We had a definite size advantage on them. I think that proved to be the difference."

Yankey played during his school days for Tallassee and was a multi-sport athlete. He is a 1985 graduate.
