Spring signees showcased

Tallassee High School honored four seniors in a ceremony in the auditorium on Monday. Student-athletes; Ashanti Thomas, Will Peters, Dee Williams and Chris Rowland will be traveling different paths after high school.

Thomas, Peters and Williams will extend their playing careers, while Rowland will be entering the military.

Rowland will enlist with the Air Force Reserve. He is a two-year letterman with the Tigers baseball team. "Chris is a great leader and person who contributed greatly in his career," THS head coach and assistant athletic director Adam Clayton said.

Peters and Williams will take their talents on the baseball diamond to the next level. Williams will join Reid Whitaker as a signee with Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Andalusia. Peters is headed to Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss.

"Dee and Will are leaving a huge legacy for future players to follow," Clayton added. "They led by example on and off the field and they as well as this whole senior class will be greatly missed."

Thomas is off to Burlington, Iowa to play volleyball for Southeastern Community College. It is the Tigers' first athletic scholarship in volleyball since 2011.

"Ashanti was a great leader for us," head coach Katie Hayley said. "She will be missed on and off the court. We are very proud of her high school accomplishments and excited to see what her future holds."
