Girls rout rivals

Reeltown's varsity softball team jumped out to a 2-0 lead early over Tallassee on Senior Day, Monday at Southside Park, but the Tigers' offense quickly ignited using the long ball to roll to an 18-2 victory.

Three Tiger girls hit homers; Brooke Royster, Ella Thrash and Lexi Love. Thrash and Love are seniors. Thrash hit the first of her career and it was a grand slam.

The No. 2 ranked team in 5A improved to 17-8-2 on the season.

Tallassee belted out 11 hits and broke the game open with eight runs in the third inning.

Alexis Walls picked up the win on the mound with four innings of work. The two runs scored were unearned. She struck out three and walked one.

The Tigers put their 3-0 area record on the line on Tuesday at home against Beauregard. The final area action will be against Brew Tech on Thursday in Montgomery.
