Softball players get all-state honors

Four Tallasseee High School softball players have been recognized by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. Chloe Baynes, Bell Haynes, Jordan Walters and Lexi Love received accolades.

The ASWA Class 5A All-State team included Baynes on the first team as an outfielder. Haynes was on the second team in the infield.

Honorable mention selections were Walters as a utility player and Lexi Love as a designated hitter.

Baynes hit for a team-leading .669 batting average. She also led the team in hits with 117 and stolen bases with 82.

Haynes batted .456 with four homeruns and 59 RBIs.

Love's average was .455. She hit seven homers and led the team in runs batted in (84).

Walters had a .417 average with four homeruns and 42 RBIs. She broke the team record for wins on the mound with a 26-9 record and a 2.08 ERA.

All four players will return next season. Haynes and Baynes are freshmen. Love is a sophomore. Walters is a junior.

Tallassee broke its single-season record for wins in 2019 with a 44-9 record.
