Girls' streak ends but still unbeaten in area play

By Michael Butler

The Tallassee softball team lost for the first time since Feb. 27 with a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Benjamin Russell on March 20 in Alex City. That ended the win streak at 10 games, so the Tigers have started a new streak.

Tallassee followed the loss with a 10-2 win in area play during an in-school match on Thursday against Dadeville 10-2. THS is now 15-5 overall and 3-0 in area play.

"We outhit them  eight to four," Tallassee head coach Pat Love said of the Benjamin Russell loss that broke the win streak. "We just made too many errors at crucial times."

Chloe Baynes had three hits in the game at the Sportsplex. Lulu Isbell added two more. Bell Haynes had a hit. Lexi Love hit a homerun. Haylee Osborne took the loss.

The junior varsity team also lost to the Wildcats, 9-8.

In the varsity victory at Southside over Dadeville, Baynes recorded four hits. Love had two. Casen Patterson, Jordan Walters, Lizzy Stillwell, Madelyn Martin, Sinclair Cole and Haylee Osborne all had a hit each.

Lulu Isbell hit a three-run homer. Osborne also picked up the win on the mound going all seven innings allowing seven hits with seven strikeouts.
