Basketball team still rolling

Staff Report

The Tallassee Tigers have a chance to avenge their only loss. Tallassee plays at Auburn on Tuesday.

The Tigers opened the season with a 48-46 setback at Stumberg Gymnasium vs. Auburn. THS has won eight straight since the defeat.

"This is why we scheduled games like tonight," head coach Keiven Mixson said of playing Class 7A Auburn. "It’s very similar to a sub-regional or regional game, so we want to treat it like that. We re preparing as if it’s a regional playoff game. It also will show us how much, if any we have improved since the first time we played them. This experience and environment should help us later in year."

Games tip off with the junior varsity game at 4:30 followed by the varsity girls and boys games.

Tallassee beat Stanhope Elmore 62-57 at home last Tuesday and followed it up with a 48-20 road win at Loachapoka on Thursday.

Against the Mustangs, the Tigers overcame an 11-point deficit in the victory. THS was paced by Jamicah Humphrey's 21. Kalvin Levett made some nice drives to the basket in the comeback scoring 14. Tyrek Turner added 8.

Mixson called the Tigers' win over Loachapoka "sloppy." It was just the second road game of the season.
