Dickerson to headline TAC banquet
The annual Tallassee Athletic Club banquet is this week on Thursday, Aug. 10. The kickoff supper will be at the Tallassee Elementary School Cafeteria beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The featured speaker will be Ron Dickerson. Dickerson is a former coach and player. He was a member of the 1972 Miami Dolphins that went on to win the Super Bowl.
Dickerson played college football at Kansas State. He was drafted in the seventh round by the Dolphins Don Shula.
He served as an assistant coach at his alma mater from 1973-75. He also coached at Louisville, Pitt, Colorado, Penn State and Clemson. Dickerson's first head coaching job came in 1993 at Temple. He also was head coach at Alabama State and Lambuth and was an assistant for his son, Ron Dickerson Jr. at Garner Webb in 2011.
All football players, cheerleaders and dance team members are admitted for free. Those who have already purchased their new TAC memberships will also receive a free meal.
For those who have yet to purchase memberships, they are $35 per person and may be renewed on Thursday.
