Tigers win Lions tourney

Tallassee ran its win streak to four games and added a trophy to their arsenal last week. The Tigers hosted the first Lions Club Tournament at Stumberg Gymnasium and won it.

The varsity boy Tigers beat Elmore County 65-53 on Monday and Alabama Christian 64-56 in the title game on Tuesday.

"Anytime you can win a tournament, it is great for your program," THS head coach Keiven Mixson said. "It should give us some confidence moving forward. We can’t be satisfied though because we have bigger goals we are striving for this year. This tournament was a great start though."

Tyrek Turner was the tournament MVP. He had 27 points and 30 rebounds in two games. Sandarius Hughley and Joshua Griffin were named to the all-tournament team.

The junior varsity, varsity girls and varsity boys teams return to action on Tuesday against Beulah at 4:30 in Tallassee. They play at home again vs. Elmore County on Thursday.
