Area up for grabs this week
Staff Report
Tallassee controls its own destiny in the area despite dropping its first area game last week.
The Tigers lost a heartbreaker at Valley on Thursday, 57-56, after sweeping its three area opponents at home.
Tallassee now has a half game advantage over Brewbaker Tech. The Tigers are 3-1. The Rams are 2-1. The two faceoff on Thursday, Jan. 24 at Brew Tech.
A Tigers' win would clinch the area regardless of the outcome with the Beauregard game on Jan. 28. Tallassee would own the tiebreak.
Valley's area mark is 3-3 entering the week. Beauregard is winless in area play.
Tallassee also got blowout road wins over rivals Elmore County 58-17 on Friday and Reeltown 62-22 on Monday. The Tigers and Rebels play again on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Stumberg Gym beginning with the varsity girls game at 2 p.m.
