Tigers still unbeaten

By Gary Buchanan

Tallassee dominated Childersburg Friday night, winning 35-12.  The victory improves the Tigers’ record to 4-0 overall, 2-0 in region play.

Trent Cochran-Gill scored from 50 yards out on the third play of the game.  Tallassee’s second possession of the night saw Casey Baynes score on a 46-yard touchdown run.  Baynes would add two additional touchdowns, one from eight yards and one from 15 yards.  Markevious Matthews tallied a score on a 22-yard jaunt.

There was an international flair to extra points.  After Nick Talley put the first PAT through the uprights, Sophomore Patrick Joekel took over the kicking duties.  Joekel is an exchange student from Germany. In his first varsity action, he connected on two of his three PAT attempts.

The Tiger defense had another big night, forcing five turnovers.  Senior Logan Goodman recovered two fumbles and had several tackles, including tackles for loss.  His effort earned him the Bright House Player of the Game honors.

Tallassee returns home to J. E. ‘Hot’ O’Brien stadium Friday night for a region matchup against the Munford Lions.  Kickoff is at 7:00. 1300 WTLS/106.5 FM will broadcast live beginning at 6:00. Audio will be simulcast on Bright House Networks cable television channel 97. A video webcast will be available on Tallassee Times TV: www.tallasseetv.com.  The broadcast is also available through the Tune-In App and followed by the "Scoreboard Show" until 11:00 p.m.
