Tigers run ends in quarters

By Gary Buchanan

Tallassee’s season came to an unceremonious end with a 51-7 loss to top ranked Andalusia Friday night.  The loss dropped Tallassee’s record to 9-4. Andalusia improved to 12-1 and moves on to host Handley in the semifinals.

The two teams traded punts before Andalusia broke through with a 22-yard touchdown run.  They went on to score 41 unanswered points in the first half.

Tallassee avoided the shutout with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Casey Baynes to Kalvin Levett late in the fourth quarter.

“They really took it to us,” said a disappointed Coach Battles.  “That is one heck of a 4A football team.  We’re upset that the season is over, but the best team won.  Our kids will look back on the season and be proud of what they accomplished.”

Junior Jake Burton led Tallassee’s offense with six catches for 67 yards.  His performance earned him Bright House Networks Player of the Game Honors.
