Baseball team avenges earlier loss to LAMP

By Michael Butler

The Tallassee baseball team had two of their three games rained out during last week's Jason Armstrong FCA Tournament in Montgomery. They played one game at Riverwalk Stadium, a 3-2 loss to St. James. The games scheduled against Trinity and Catholic were a wash.

Tallassee returned to the Capital City on Monday of this week to play LAMP, a team that had beaten them 11-1 in five innings at Southside Field on Feb. 27. The Tigers turned the tables this time with a 13-3 victory in six innings at Paterson Field.

The Tigers improved to 7-6 on the season.

Zak Haynes led THS with three hits and five RBIs as Tallassee jumped out to a 9-0 lead. Drake Bonner and Clayten Gough had two hits each.

Jacob Abbot Ingram, Jacob Dantro and Bruin Hathcock combined for a two-hitter. Ingram pitched 2 1/3 and allowed two runs. Dantro and Hathcock did not allow a hit or run in relief.

Tallassee will host Prattville Christian on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. 1300 WTLS/106.5 FM, Tallassee Times TV and Spectrum Channel 97 will broadcast live with an airtime of 4.
