Tallasseeans turn out for November election

There was a large turnout for Tuesday's presidential race in Tallassee. Numbers nearly doubled in comparison to the recent municipal election.

There were 1,218 residents who voted in the Aug. 23 mayor's race. 1,042 voted in the Oct. 4 runoff. The Nov. 8 presidential totals tallied 2,441 in the city bettering the municpal count by 1,399.

1,564 voters cast their ballots at Tallaweka Baptist Church, Tallassee's largest precinct. 670 East Tallassee voters turned out to City Hall. Another 207 voted at God's Congregational Holiness Church in Jordanville.

For president, locals favored Donald Trump, who received 1,832 votes in Tallassee to Hillary Clinton's 527. For U.S. Senator, Richard Shelby topped Ron Crumpton 1,834 to 563.

Tallassee voters at City Hall favored a fire fee by a 307-284 margin.
