Ante upped in reward regarding mill fire

Staff Report

The reward has now increased in the East Tallassee mill fire case. Mount Vernon Pine, LLC has raised its portion to $21,500 for information leading to an arrest in the supposed arson that took place last year. That brings the overall total to $25,000.

The Alabama Bureau of Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is chipping in $2,500, while Central Alabama CrimeStoppers is contributing an additional $1,000 with the conviction of those involved.

CrimeStoppers director Tony Garrett posted that the increase in reward offerd is "to assure the public that law enforcement and the owners are doing everything within their power to find out what caused the massive fire that destroyed an historic landmark on May 4, 2016. We are requesting that the public take another look at the still photos and video of a vehicle that they are calling a 'vehicle of interest' regarding the massive blaze."

Those with information are encouraged to contact CrimeStoppers at 334-215-STOP or visit their website and Facebook page.
