Glasscock adds another degree

Tallassee High School's director of bands, Robby Glasscock, has been working in Tallassee City Schools for 18 years. Over the past year, he has pulled double duty as he worked on another degree.

Recently, he completed his Ed.S. degree at Auburn University. The Ed.S., or Education Specialist, is one degree shy of a Doctorate.

At the Alabama Music Educators Association annual convention in Birmingham last week, Glasscock presented his poster project. This was the culmination of a year's worth of research on his topic, which had to do with marching band injuries.  For his research project, other than studying scholarly journals, he interviewed dozens of band directors around the country and summarized his findings.

Pictured is the AMEA Recording Secretary, Carl Hancock of the University of Alabama, taking Glasscock's photo during his presentation. The picture will be published in the state music education journal ALA BREVE, which is distributed to every music teacher in the state.

Congratulations to Mr. Glasscock for completing his degree and his presentation, and for representing Tallassee City Schools!
