Police searching for robbery suspects

Staff Report

Tallassee police are in search of three suspects involved in a Tuesday night, Dec. 13 robbery at Hibbett Sports in the Tallassee Shopping Center.

A call came in to police headquarters at approximately 7:20 p.m. Three black males performed a "snatch and grab" of merchandise according to investigator Gary Williford.

"One of the individuals on the way out the door said that 'he would shoot the clerk if the clerk called the police,'" Williford said. "No witness observed a weapon."

Based on one account posted on Facebook by an eye witness, it took "about 20 minutes" for police to respond.

"It didn't take 20 minutes," Williford added. "Another officer did respond to the neighborhood but didn't make contact."

Williford said that the subjects ran towards Whatley Drive in the area of Emfinger Subdivision. Each individual is being sought for second degree robbery.

The first suspect is described as short and light skinned, wearing a maroon beanie, gray hoodie and blue pants with white stripes. The second suspect is tall and dark skinned, dressed in a hooded coat and possibly a Chicago Bulls cap. The third suspect is tall and dark skinned in a black jacket, blue jeans and white baseball cap. Each is of medium build and believed to be in their mid-20s.
