Chamber in search of new director

By Michael Butler

The Tallassee Chamber of Commerce has a vacancy for the position of executive director.

"Upon mutual decision, Michone Roye is no longer Chamber director," Tallassee Chamber of Commerce president Laurie Rygiel said. "Michone was a great part of (the) chamber when she started as secretary and worked her way up to the director's position and will be missed. All of us wish her the best in her next endeavors. The board will be posting a full job description, accepting resumes and starting interviews within the next few weeks."

Roye responded to the decision being "mutual."

"It wasn't mutually agreed upon," Roye said. "I worked my hardest to promote the city of Tallassee and the promote the Chamber of Commerce and benefit our members."

Roye began working with the Chamber in the summer of 2010. She became interim director in July of 2014. The interim tag was removed in October of '14.

The Tallassee Chamber will also be relocating its physical location in the downtown district from 17 Sistrunk Street to 10 South Ann Avenue on Nov. 1.
