Building inspector hired

Staff Report

The City of Tallassee has a new building inspector. Andy Coker was hired for the position last week.

"I find it an honor and a privilege to be able to work for and serve the city of Tallassee," Coker said. "I am a lifelong citizen of Tallassee, and my family has deep roots in the community. I have always been proud to tell people I am from Tallassee. One of the things I am most proud of is the beauty of our town. I pledge to work hard each day to maintain and enhance the building and grounds of our city."

Coker was selected among a host of candidates. Eight were interviewed for the position.

"It's code enforcement, building inspections, business licenses," mayor Johnny Hammock said. "You wear a couple of different hats."

Coker noted that a personal connection with the people is also important.

"To be effective as building inspector, I intend to develop positive relationships with its people," he said. "My goal is to be approachable and attentive to all. Please feel free to contact me to address issues or concerns you may have."

Coker's wife Allison is a school teacher at Tallassee Elementary School. They have two children, Drew and Alex.

"I look forward to working with mayor Hammock, our city council and all citizens of Tallassee to move our great city forward. Thank you so much for your support."
