Altercation results in shootout

Staff Report

In an incident of apparent road rage, two adult males pulled out handguns and fired at one another at Buddy's Convenience Store in East Tallassee. Multiple shots rang out on Wednesday afternoon at approximately 2:45.

No one was hurt.

Tallassee police responded to 709 Central Boulevard on April 29. Officers determined that a verbal altercation had occurred on the roadway and that both subjects pulled into the gas station parking lot where the dispute ensued.

"During the argument both subjects pulled out handguns and fired at each other," Tallassee police chief Matthew Higgins reported in a press release. "One of the two men fled the scene and the other advised officers that he did not know the identity of the person he was in the altercation with."

Further information will be released when available. The case remains under investigation.
